The hidden side of the Moon Valley
Born during the Covid period, Vallecito is a lovely alternative to the traditional Valley of the Moon. The excursion lasts around 4 hours and is free of charge.
On our way to the Dinosaur, we stop at the Kari viewpoint, then cross the Valley of Patience to enter the Valley of the Moon through the back door of the Salt Cordillera, where we take a few walks to admire the striking relief of this fascinating corner of the desert.
A stop at the Magic Bus, a witness to the valley’s mining activity, is also an opportunity to visit part of the quarry and listen to the cracking rock !
We head for the Grande Dune, climb a short distance, walk along the ridge with its spectacular views, and then descend the Grande Dune back to the 4×4.
We pick up the track again, following and crossing the salt river and gradually reaching the sandy areas. The relief gradually fades and we reach the Ayllu de Tulor, stopping under a hundred-year-old Algarrobo tree for a snack.
Return to San Pedro.
