SATURNINO - TARA
Nino, our local driver and off-piste specialist, maps out a new route every time, winding between volcanoes in the intimacy of the Cordillera!
Along the way, we discover Cerro Negro, the Dali, Quepiaco and Amarilla lagoons, the Alitar sulfur geyser and the Salar de Pujsa, with the imposing Acamarachi as a backdrop.
The route through this “altiplanic” vastness runs alongside the rio Quepiaco and its wetlands, a meeting place for wildlife: herds of vicuñas, Andean partridges and geese, foxes and emus, not forgetting the thousands of pink flamingos, … as for the puma, we sometimes discover the remains of its meals.
The dictionary doesn’t contain enough superlatives to describe the exceptional beauty of these landscapes, and the emotion felt in front of these giants towering over the sumptuously coloured lagoons.
