The town of Talabre is located at the foot of the Lascar volcano, 68 km southwest of San Pedro de Atacama. This typical Atacamenian town lives mainly from agriculture, livestock, and tourism. Talabre is divided into two zones: Talabre Nuevo and Talabre Viejo.
Today, you can visit the oldest part of the town, Talabre Viejo, which was abandoned after the numerous water rises in the canyon where it is located.
Talabre has the largest concentration of petroglyphs in the region. One can walk in the Ketzala Gorge to discover the stories told by its walls.
