We will start the day, by the ruins of the Village of Tulor, an old village of Atacama farmers and cattle ranchers located a few kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama.
We will then go to the Pukará de Quitor, an Atacameño fortification where the town of Atacama fought and lost to the Spanish army in July 1540. We will then have a coffee and a snack at the foot of that beautiful monument before heading north.
In Lasana, we will visit the museum of archaeology and history before exploring the Pukará de Lasana, proudly guarding its green ravine of the same name.
Leaving Lasana we will stop in San Francisco de Chiu-Chiu to visit the oldest preserved church in Chile. We will have lunch at a local restaurant.
We will continue to the Pukará de Turi, one of the largest Atacama fortresses, 47 km from Chiu Chiu. The site was occupied by the Incas who left their traces as an administrative center in an excellent state of conservation. There, in front of these vestiges of the past, we will have a cocktail-appetizer.
You will have the possibility to stay at Calama airport if you wish or to return to San Pedro de Atacama.
